Q. What’s your availability?
A. “Every week’s a bit different, but I’ll always try to find a time that fits around you. Just get in touch and we’ll sort it out together.”
Q. How it works?
A. Start with beginner trial lesson. Driving Instructor will come to your address and walk you through the basics at your pace – no pressure.
We’ll practise moving off, stopping and pulling over in a quiet low traffic area. No Busy car parks on day one – I want you to feel in control and confident from the start.
Q. What’s your Pass Rate?
A. Our goal is your success. Because we focus on 1-to-1 coaching, most of our pupils pass first or second time. We’ll only book your test when you’re ready.
Q. What areas do you cover?
A. Driving Instructors can cover Preston city centre, Fulwood, Broughton, Walton-le-Dale, Lostock Hall, Cottam, Hutton and all the surrounding areas.
If you’re coming in from out of town, no problem – Driving Instructor can pick you up from Preston bus station or Preston train station to start your lesson.
Q. I’ve failed 3 times, I have ADHD, I’m really nervous, and I haven’t driven in 10 years. Can I actually learn with you?
A: Short answer: Yep.
A. Long answer: If you think you’re my “hardest case”, probably taught someone trickier last month.
A. Failed a few times? That’s my specialty. We’ve got techniques that break through the mental block when other instructors couldn’t. Seen it plenty – people come to us after 3, 4, even 5 fails and pass with us.
A. ADHD/nervous? Honestly, that’s where we shine. Lessons are broken down into tiny, no-pressure steps so your brain doesn’t overload.
A. Most of my “really nervous” pupils are driving confidently within a few weeks. We go at your pace, not mine.
A. Haven’t driven in 10 years? No worries. We get people back behind the wheel who haven’t touched a car since their old Fiesta in 2015.
A. Whether it’s anxiety, rusty skills, or “I forgot everything”, we’ve got a structured way to bring it back.
A. Bottom line: If you can show up and give it a go, I’ll handle the rest. We’ll figure it out together, and we’ll probably have a laugh while doing it.

Your 7 Steps to Passing
1. Get your Provisional License
This is your “learner’s permit”. It lets you legally drive with an instructor.

Takes about 1-2 weeks to arrive in the post
2. Choose Your Driving Instructor.
This is the important bit! You want a Local driving Instructor, you can trust.
Look for: experience, good reviews, and friendly instructors. That’s where Black Gold Driving School comes in. We’ve been teaching for over 10 years.
3. Start Theory + Lessons at the Same Time.
You don’t have to wait! You can book your theory test AND start driving lessons together. This helps you learn faster and keeps the momentum going.
4. Pick Manual or Automatic
Manual: You change gears. More cars to drive later.
Automatic: Easier to learn, no gears to worry about.

5. Learn and Practice.
Most people need between 20 – 50 hours of lessons. Everyone is different!
The big tip: Don’t take big gaps between lessons. If you stop for weeks, you forget and lose confidence. Keep it regular and you’ll save money + time.
6. Book + Pass Your Practical Driving Test.
Once you pass your theory test and your instructor says you’re ready, Only YOU can book your practical test.
7. You Passed! What Next?
